Volleyball

Although Chase Budinger is an amazing basketball player, he is also excellent at volleyball. I was introduced to the sport at a young age by his brother, Duncan, who played at Long Beach State, and his sister, Brittanie, who played at San Francisco and professionally in Europe.

An outside hitter at La Costa Canyon High School, where he earned a total of eight varsity letters, Budinger says volleyball helped him in basketball with his timing and anticipation. In 2006, he helped the Mavericks win the San Diego section Division I championship for the third consecutive season, and earned his third straight Union-Tribune boys’ volleyball Player-of-the-Year honor. Chase also earned his third straight San Diego County volleyball Player of the Year and the 2006 Mizuno national volleyball Player of the Year award.  Chase was named the MVP of the 2006 US Junior Olympic Volleyball Tournament in the 18 and under division.
